The arrival of March brings a national focus to the contributions of women in our society. This year, the celebration of National Women’s Month carries the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.” The 2026 sub-theme, “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, specifically draws inspiration from our history. It highlights the pre-colonial spiritual and community leaders who held significant authority and wisdom. By reclaiming this heritage, we acknowledge that women have always been central to the leadership and stability of our communities.
A peaceful and progressive future depends on the inclusion of diverse perspectives. Celebrating women’s achievements helps inspire the next generation to pursue their ambitions without fear of bias. When we support women’s leadership, we build more resilient families and more productive industries. The 2026 celebration reminds us that equality is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of everyone. By working together, we can sustain an environment where every citizen can thrive and contribute to a better future.
